1. Remote Telematics Unit (RTU) 3rd Generation Device Overview
The Airmax device delivers exceptional vehicle diagnostics and performance, communicating over CAN using industry-standard communication protocols installed via the OBD Port. Our device utilises a versatile, unsteered SIM, ensuring seamless connectivity across the UK and Europe with enhanced security, via our private Access Point Name (APN).
As a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), we utilise a multi-network solution, dynamically connecting to the strongest signal with a full Network Preference List (PLMN). This reduces coverage gaps and ensures constant, secure data communication for our clients. The unsteered 2G GPRS SIM connects to the strongest available signal for optimum coverage from all four major networks.

Highlights:
Quick installation: Typical installation takes 15 to 30 minutes, simplifying setup across any vehicle location with accelerometer auto-alignment.
Multi-Constellation GNSS: Combining GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou to enhance location service precision with external antenna technology and improved Time to First Fix (TTFF).
Real-time fleet management: Equipped for continuous monitoring, backed by a powerful ARM processor and extensive data storage capable of typically holding one month’s data (typically 600 trips).
Robust and durable design: Encased in a bespoke housing, designed to withstand harsh environments as per BS EN 60721-3-5:1997 Class 5M3 standards.
Low power consumption: Operates under 100mA during operation and 5–7mA typically in “sleep” mode, ensuring efficient battery management.
Broad protocol support: The device and supporting technology supports automotive standards and communication protocols; CAN (15301, 22900, 11898, 14230), ISO (9141-2) EOBD (15765-4), UDS (14229) and HGV specific; J1939 and FMS.
Ability to remotely update device firmware of installed devices (over-the-air updates to hardware).
Driver ID: Using industry standard MiFare Technology.
Emergency equipment (EWE): Reports vehicle analogue outputs and usage for a 360° view of vehicle activity, with the capability for digital integration into Control Systems.
