Battery Drain Investigation RCA Process

High level process presenting exclusively the normal flow of route cause analysis for battery drains and investigation.

The process should be provided in the unlikely event to a vehicle dealer or breakdown provider where it is thought to be the telematics device creating a battery drain.

NOTE: It is important to follow this process prior and the battery testing procedures prior to disconnecting any telematics devices from the vehicle to determine if it is the vehicle telematics device causing the issue.

Discharging, or draining, describes the process of your battery losing voltage, or energy. It is important to understand that a battery is always discharging it is not being directly charged. Discharging your battery can be both an active or an inactive process.
